Backyard Fun!

Marcus and I are getting ready to move to a house that we have started renting as of Friday. The house was pretty filthy, which allowed us to negotiate down on the rent, but also meant that we are spending a lot of time dusting, vacuuming, and scrubbing absolutely everything in the house. Meanwhile,Aurelia tries to entertain herself with a ball or trying to help,or whatever else comes along. Today,we found her sand buckets in the trunk of the car and let her play with them on the back patio while we were working inside. Aurelia is horribly afraid of the vacuum cleaner (big tears, running, panic breathing, the whole bit),and Daddy was running it a lot,so she was happy to be outside.

She wanted some water in her bucket like Mommy’s cleaning bucket, which she was not allowed to play in (yuck!),so I filled her bucket partway, and we gave her some cups and such to transfer water between buckets. After a while, she was making “blueberry water,” and having a grand time. We like the backyard already!

Here is a picture of Mommy, who is already e-nor-mous! Forgive the end-of-the-day strung out look. This was actually post-haircut with my lovely salon ponytail.

One of these days,I’ll get a nice photo of me taken.

Fun at Play and Haircut #3Fun at Play and Haircut #3

Here are some pictures of Aurelia playing around Tanglewood. We are going to miss having a playground right across the parking lot when we move. On the other hand, not having to fight all the way inside about leaving all the toys on the ground (that others have left out) will be a relief!

She loves to climb. This is the ladder to the big slide.

“Balance beam” anywhere there is something narrow to walk on is also a favorite.

(Left to Right) 1. Climbing the tube slide – which she mastered quickly once she kicked off her shoes. 2. Riding a scooter that was lying around – that is what I mean about toys everywhere. Sometimes it takes us 10 minutes to get to our door from the car because of all of the toys she has to check out. 3. Bagel and cream cheese, the new favorite breakfast, especially eaten on the car on the way to school. She has been sleeping in past 8:00 a lot of days,so we end up going this route.

Ready for a haircut! Aurelia made friends all around the salon while we were waiting for her cut. She was so excited all day! She kept asking everyone else if they were there for a haircut and telling them for sure that she was having one. I think Nancy took off about 1/2 inch around the bottom and evened it up. The tangles in back just get sooooo bad when the ends get old and dry. Some of the older ladies who were there for the style appointments were so concerned that I was cutting of her baby curls. The next day,her hair was actually curlier! I’m not worried about losing the curls just yet.

PS. Mommy also got a cut,but no one but her has noticed – isn’t that always how it is…. Aurie was going a little nuts when I got my hair washed. She HATES having her hair washed,so she was afraid she was next – mwahahaha. This was after her cut,and she had also lost patience waiting. After she escaped out the front door the second time,I gave up on having my hair styled and left with a slightly fancier ponytail than I normally do. We will probably have separate appointments next time!!

Spring Fling at TanglewoodSpring Fling at Tanglewood

This weekend was the annual Spring Fling carnival put on by graduate housing for all of the village residents. They have lots of inflatables like the bungee run, slides, and a couple of places for the kids to get in and jump. There is also free food and some games to win tickets for prizes. So,Aurelia and I went and stayed for almost 3 hours, and Marcus joined us for some pizza, but mostly he used the time to get ready for work on Monday. All of the pictures are post-worthy,so there are lots of them!

This game was to hit the red piece with the mallett and the frog jumps onto the table. Aurelia tried a couple of times, and then we tried together. She was a little too short to be able to hit the top of the red button, but had a lot of fun trying! The frogs hopped a little bit. P4100390

Holding Mommy’s drink (it wasn’t open). She ate the whole slice of pizza and a snow cone. She has been eating a lot, lately, and suddenly all of her 2T pants are too short!! P4100391 P4100393Notice that the princess is not wearing a dress, today. I said she had to wear pants for the jumping. She started to fuss about not being a princess,a.k.a. not wearing a dress,so wearing a shirt with princesses on it was the compromise.

Last night, while I was rocking her to sleep (yeah,we still do that…),she said she wanted to have a princess b-day party with a princess cake. Hmmm, guess I’ll be planning a princess party this year! It sure didn’t take much for her to get all princess-crazy. She has 2 books, and has only seen 2 of the Disney movies with princesses. I can’t wait to see what she thinks of the wedding that she is going to be in next month!!! Oh,that reminds me – we need to hurry up and get moved so that I can start making her dress. At least once we are in the house,I can sew in the evenings.P4100394Trying out a snowcone for the first time. She thought it was too cold after a while,so we let it melt down for her drink, instead. After about 3 attempts to get her to try the bouncy castle, she finally got in with a bunch of other little girls who were pretty close to her age. She had a blast!! She probably stayed in there for about an hour all together. Towards the end,a particular little girl was in there with her, just the two of them, and they were starting to get tired,so they would flop down next to each other and scream and then giggle. The students monitoring the castle said,“I think these two just became best friends. They’d be swapping text messages soon if they were about 10 years older.” P4100396

Easter 2010Easter 2010

P4040383

Here is Aurelia’s Easter dress.  She was especially excited about the flower buttons. Lately, she has not wanted to wear anything but dresses. I keep running out before the end of the week. I need to get some more little casual dresses whipped up for school. This girl is turning into quite the little model!

We gave her mostly gifts rather than candy in her bucket. She got some new tub crayons for bathtime and another “pretty dress” to wear to school – they were $5 at Walmart, and organic cotton to boot!! Next is the candy hunt after the fellowship brunch at the church building. She had a great time looking around with the other kiddos, except for a small dispute over some Dots. The last one was her busting into the “pom-pom” that she found. We can’t figure out why this is the word for suckers, but it is… Again, look at that little model – what a heartbreaker.

After a bit of a rough start to the morning, she had a great day. We didn’t have classes this week because of all of the visitors that we have coming for service (about doubled the crowd),and she was really upset about not having Bible class. This afternoon,we have been chillin’ at home. No big holiday hoopla here. Marcus and I each had a turn taking a nap,but Aurelia did not,of course:). The parents were both worn out after a busy beach day yesterday, but she slept 12 hours, beginning about 10 minutes after we left the state park.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter celebration!  He is Risen!
