More Crafts!

I saw this cute little blanket on a tutorial, (actually done with a binding rather than turned and topstitched…) and I just had to try it. This is the link at Sparkle Power! Doll blanket tutorial

These are some kidlets, so says the tutorial. The idea is that it is a pocket to hang on a hook or a kids doorknob to fill with things to carry around the house, put away, or to stand by to go out to the car. These are for a friend’s shower next week who is having her third baby. (Don’t tell her, if you know who this is – I don’t think she checks the blog.) The monograms correspond to each of her kiddos, obviously. The gators bag is for the little boy! Kidlet tutorial (look for it on the left bar.)

The Nap-Free Sous Chef

The latest thing is for aurie to jump right in the middle of whatever you are doing to “help.” Among the things she has helped with are ripping out a mistake seam (pulling threads), taking out the trash, checking mail, doing laundry, and lots of cooking. Basically, she wants to try everything! I’ve been trying to think of creative ways to safely involve her in just about any activity that I am doing in order to keep her entertained.

In other news…She has almost completely stopped taking naps! Ever since one of her teachers was trasferred to another classroom at daycare, the other teachers can’t seem to get her down. Marcus and I have pretty much given up on napping since she was weaned. An hour of fighting for less than an hour nap just doesn’t seem worth it!

Sometimes she just crashes after a long day of playing, usually on the way home from somewhere. Tonight, she crashed in my lap after we watched Curious George together…

Oh yeah! She is going to move up to the next classroom and be a Grasshopper next week. This week is transition, moving from one class to another during the day, and starting next week, it will be permanent. The next class up is all about learning to play along with friends and potty training! Yeah!! This public-washer cloth diapering momma is ready!! We may send some panties with her as early as next week!!

Broccoli Will Be Eaten

First, we finally got Aurelia her own tricycle. She was very happy.

Second, frustrated with her refusal to eat broccoli, I (dad) asked her if she would eat it with sugar. She said yes so I got a small bowl of sugar and showed her how to dip the broccoli in. She kept asking for more broccoli!
Ignore the lack of smiling in these pictures…she knew something was going on once we brought out the camera.
