Belated 4th of July Post

For the 4th of July, we drove up to spend most of a week in Tennessee with Marcus’ family. On the way up, Aurelia came down with a fever, but she was feeling much better and we ready to play after 24 hours. We swam, ate lots of yummy food, and watched while Aurelia had lots of fun with her cousins. On the 4th, itself, we went to Juanest’s house for a biiiig family cookout, and then went to a firework show out in the country. After playing hard outside with older kids all afternoon, Aurelia fell asleep on the way to the fireworks and then was very very upset about waking up only to hear all the booming – and to get rained-on!

Sweet Joy in her festive shirt at the picnic.

She was very excited about the “ice cream” (translation: icing). These cupcakes were in one of those hard-to-open packages from the bakery that snaps together. Aurelia could not have gotten that cupcake out herself. Later, it became obvious which little relative (nephew, actually – it’s a big family!) got it for her. Suffice it to say that those two were close pals for the rest of the day. They had good times riding around in a wagon together after the waterworks were put away, too.

A few days later, we went to visit my siblings in Nashville. I got to see all of them except Benjamin, since he will be home for the rest of the summer. They were all glad to have a couple of days to visit with us and to see Aurelia. Tabitha and I went fabric shopping, too, and I hit Textiles on their annual 1/2-price fabric sale! I was so excited to get some really beautiful stuff that I would not be able to afford otherwise. Now, I just have to get my current projects finished so that I can start making clothes… On the laid-back visits like this one are when I really notice how much I miss my family, especially my sister. Maybe someday we will live much closer, so that we can go hang out and make crafts and shop and do all the cool sister stuff together! I Love You!!
