Aurelia Marie

After one very long night following the trip to IN,we put the pack-and-play away for good. Aurelia climbed out of it about 5 times in a row and absolutely refused to stay,so she got to sleep in the floor for a couple of nights until I could get to the store to buy her a mattress.

Here is the new “bed”so far. Yeah,it is a little ghetto to sleep directly on the mattress on the floor,but at least she won’t have far to fall. I won the toddler/twin bed debate,but we needed to wait to buy the frame another time,so the floor it is. I’d really like to get one with the storage underneath either as a captain’s bed or as a platform bed. We have limited space,and she likely will share a room with a little one in years to come,since it may be a while until we have a house. (No,that is not an announcement…)

She has slept on the mattress a few nights,now. We need to work on getting her to stay in it all night,though. Last night she was up twice. She can just push her bedroom door open. Thanks to all of the years of paint layered on the frame,it doesn’t latch very well. The first waking,she will usually go down on her own just being placed back in bed,but the second one is too close to morning for her to go to sleep easily. I ended up sleeping with her in there from 4 to 6 this morning. We need to work out something this weekend so that she will learn to stay in her room when she wakes up. I guess this is the hardest part about moving to the big-kid bed.

I’ve been doing a bit of sewing,lately,so Aurelia has seen me do some measuring,and I measure her,too. She loves to take the tape and ask to be measured repeatedly,measure Mommy,Daddy,and her babies. Oddly everyone measures 8,9,10!!

The final portion of the trip was to go to graduation. We had a party for Benjamin the next day,and about 45 people came! I don’t have many pictures from this part of the trip since the paparazzi were there. I pretty much put my camera away while my siblings are around. I’ll try to post some of Tabitha’s pictures later on. There are some really adorable shots. We were all able to be together for a little while on Saturday,which is a rare occurrence nowadays with five adult siblings. With Memorial Day in the mix,we were all able to have a little time off work to celebrate with Ben.

Here Aurelia had found Grandma’s craft supplies. She decided that spools of ribbons made great leg cuffs. Unfortunately,she got them stuck so we had to wet her down and then pry them off. She wasn’t too fond of that part! On this trip,she also learned how to climb out of the pack-and-play,which made for an interesting night of putting her back in and then finally putting her to sleep on the bed. That was the second-to-last night that she ever would spend in the “baby bed.”
