Afternoon at the Beach

Since it was supposed to be one of the hottest days of the year and no chance of rain,we decided to head to St. Augustine in the afternoon instead of the morning,like we usually do. We picked up Grandmaw at the airport around 10:00 and then hung out at home until 2:00,which put us at the beach at around 4:00. It was a nice change to see the tide coming in a to feel the temperatures dropping instead of climbing. Aurelia fell right to sleep on the way home. She was exhausted from digging,running into the ocean (scary!!),and trying to play with any other children that she could find. At one point,she found two other little girls,just a bit older than her. She flopped down and started playing with their buckets and shovels,and then asking for her turn with their ball. The girls’family got a kick out of how at-home she was playing with their things and then visiting with the grown-ups,too. She has not yet met a stranger –which means we have to watch her very closely. It is so indicative of her innocence that she has no fear of people or places. She always assumes that she will be safe. I hope to keep it that way as long as possible:).
