| The egg saga (a short one!). Here we are dyeing the hardboiled egg. It was supposed to be purple,I think. Here is the colored egg. It still needs to dry before we can make it a little “jacket”–the other half of the craft project. Shortly after this photo, the egg hits the floor, and she starts to try to peel it. No craft today! Yummy craft! Aurelia was so terrified of the bunny!! She made her panic noises when it even came near her. This picture shows her looking on while the other kiddos have a group photo. She wanted to stay close to Mommy in case of a surprise attack,I guess. Oddly, she was super interested in watching the other kids sit on his lap and take pictures. She was talking and waving at them –but she was not about to go over there herself!! The village phot0grapher took a pic of me holding her near the bunny (like last year) so I may post that one later if it is any good. This post is primarily for my mom. I managed to get Aurelia’s dress done with time to spare in spite of a term paper that was due this week. Hooray. I was beginning to wonder…The dress came together in about 3 1/2 hours. It would have taken less if I would have read the directions a little more carefully for putting on the blue band –took it off twice before I figured that out:). The little purse took another 40 minutes or so. I’m planning to make a couple more purses for a donation at a ladies retreat coming up. I have extra fabric lying around. Probably will use a 2-sided fusion layer between two pieces to make the sides stiff. I love making stuff up as I go along…it’s a refreshing activity for my brain after doing so much science during the week. The waist band on the dress needs a ribbon around it. It is supposed to be decorative, but I found a mis-cut that left a tiny piece of raw edge sticking out from the bodice/skirt seam (~1/2″). So,I’ll apply the ribbon to cover that raw edge and give the dress a little more detail. That shouldn’t take long tomorrow. Maybe I’ll get those other bags made this weekend, too. Thanks for teaching me to sew,Mom! She looks like such a big girl in these pictures. We had just arrived home after a rare trip to Super-Walmart,and it was 7:00 as we were leaving. So,we did go ahead and do the icky fast food. She pretty much devoured the entire happy meal. Marcus and I split one nugget on the way home (since we wouldn’t eat until 8:30),but she ate the rest. I wish I also had the time to muse about how my shopping differs when I shop at Walmart for groceries, but that probably isn’t why you are here:). Besides, blogging for a moment is a form of procrastinating today, and I need to get back to work…:)Sarah MAKE SOME JAM! So,last weekend,Marcus and I decided to do just that. Strawberries are available everywhere right now,so we decided to put some up for later. We made 8 jars of cooked jam and then 6 jars of freezer jam (I think –didn’t count the pyramid carefully.) All of this jam only took up about 1/4 of the big 12-pint box of strawberries that I bought! We will also have whole berries in the freezer for Aurelia to suck on –she is an addict! | |
