Halloween was a busy day this year! I went to work for most of the day, then cut out around 3:00 to take Aurelia to Boo at the Zoo. I put together a quick “fairy”costume for Aurie with a sparkly skirt and a wand for her to carry. She was more interested in her basket for collecting candy, though. We met Kate a Jackson at the long line to go into the zoo,and then we walked through the differently-themed zones that they had set up. Some of the areas were comic book characters,Men in Black, and music through the ages. Very well done event –it was great. Aurelia did not want to stay with me,which was a little scary at times. She can bolt in between legs and get pretty far before I can catch up with her. We tried to keep the kiddos in the wagon as much as possible, but they got restless after a while. Aurelia and Jackson had so much fun looking at all the costumes, the other kids, and a few animals. The mommies managed to have a good time, too.
Aurelia with Robin who has been snared by the evil Poison Ivy. She liked the music that was playing at this spot. She had to stop and break it down –much to the entertainment of the characters.
Toting my basket, collecting some candy! Mommy had another bag to hold the candy. She kept trying to bite through the foil wrappers!

Some really cool jack-o-lanterns at the entrance to Boo!

The two little sweeties waiting to go into the zoo. Getting them both to look at me was quite a chore! I need a faster camera in order to catch their expressions. Our older digital captures the moment right after that adorable smile. By the way, this is the same wagon set-up we used for Homecoming –Hey,it works!
After we left the zoo,we went to Sonny’s for some dinner. The kids were really hungry and getting restless. Kate and I took turns eating and wrangling. I hadn’t been out without Marcus in a long time. Taking care of Aurelia at a restaurant alone is very exhausting! After the yummy bbq,we went out to Newberry to another friends house for a party. The kids went trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, then we went back to the house for the adults to hang out. Marcus met us for the trick-or-treating. Of course, the kids all had a blast -the group had grown to 5 by this point. I brought the bed and put Aurie down to sleep around 9:00 –good thing, since we didn’t get home until 11:00. She does really well sleeping away from home as long as we can nurse and calm down for a little while. She slept through a lot of noise and activity!
On Saturday,I went to a work day at the garden co-op while Marcus and Aurelia hung out at home. That afternoon,we watched the UF/GA football game –those dogs got totally chomped!! The rest of the evening was a blur of playing, making butternut squash soup, and coming up with a pantry meal, since we desperately needed a grocery trip.
Now,back to another busy week!
