Actually, this happened so long ago, I have no idea what the music is…

More playground pictures

Here are a few more pictures of our time outside. The rain was rolling in, and there were some sprinkles, but we played on.
If you look carefully, you can almost see a glint of her new teeth that have cut through.

Coming down the slide!

Going up the stairs all by herself. She is getting such long, skinny legs.

A rare picture with Mommy.

A brief update while I’m here:
Marcus is clerking again, but the job search continues.
Sarah is gearing up to start two concurrent 8-week experiments. These will only have two major measurement days a week, so not too busy.
Both of us have been sick this week with a truly evil cold. I have had chills and aches as well, and we neither one can breathe. Despite not feeling well, we are trying to enjoy our time with Aurelia.
Aurelia is learning new words left and right!
The other night at dinner, she was asking for applesauce by saying “nana” and I told her that it was actually apple. So, after a couple of minutes she was saying “apple.” It is so cute. We should try to get a video of that word. Anyway, she also repeats us and her teachers. She picked up another child’s name, today – saying “Jack.” She amazes us every day!

Playing in the Rain

This evening it was sprinkling, but we decided to take Aurelia out to the playground, anyway. She loves to go to the big playground here at Tanglewood and play in the tunnels. She can climb up the stairs and go all the way down the tunnel slide all by herself. She was absolutely ecstatic about going out!

Teething Again

A little update on Aurelia dating back to last Sunday (7th)… Aurelia is now cutting 4 more teeth all at once. These are the first bicuspids and they are giving her fits. Last Sunday, she was running a pretty high fever. We took her to worship, and I ended up not have any students, so I held her through the adult class. She just laid her head on my chest and stayed so still. I knew that something was wrong, and she felt warm. So, after class, and inspection by an additional 3 “grandmas” we met in the hallway, I took her home to rest. She nursed and slept on my lap/chest for the whole rest of the day, and her temperature maxed out at 103.8 (rectal). Poor baby.

My mom suggested that it could possibly be teeth related, but she had not been showing other symptoms. The next morning, I noticed a little glint in her mouth, and I was able to feel four little tips emerging through the gum. It seems like doctors are pretty divided about whether or not teething actually does cause such things, but with our little one, it seems like she has a very dramatic symptom right about the time her teeth break through the skin. So, Tuesday through Thursday – she went back to Baby Gator. Her teacher called me each of those days to see if I’d bring her some medicine for the pain. My sweet girl was crying all day. Thankfully, this morning, she seemed in much better spirits, and I haven’t had any calls. Perhaps we are over the hump. With her other teeth, she had just a few really awful days with pain and then it was over. I hope this pattern continues with her molars. Some kids are in agony for weeks.

So, once again, we discover that our little “cranky pants” has really been quite an angel while she was hurting. I always feel bad after being frustrated with her, only to find out that something was really bothering her. If only she could just tell me!

Music and Art…We are so refined :)

On Saturday, Aurelia decided to take up playing the cymbals. She is actually pretty good at crashing them together and also dropping them on the floor or coffee table to make cool sounds as they swirl around to a stop.

We also broke out the washable markers and set the artist to work on her “canvases,” aka the insides of cracker and cereal boxes. That paperboard is not recyclable here in G’ville, so we put it to good use.

Note the colorful hands…

and mouth! I guess she decided to be a makeup artist!
