I Come From the Water…

On Saturday,we took a trip to St. Augustine to the beach. This was a second trip for Aurelia, but she slept most of the time on the first strip, since she was only 2 months old at the time. Ryan and Leslie drove down from Jacksonville and met us there. We all had such a good time, and Aurelia absolutely loved playing in all of the sand and going into the water. She was fearless of the waves, and wanted more even when they knocked her down and scared Mommy. This was such a wonderful day,I’m sad that I know that I will forget the details over time –all of her shrieks and giggles with delight in the waves and how much she loved trying to walk on the sand. *Sigh* I just need to make sure and enjoy each day with her as it happens so that I will have those moments to bask in when she gets older and slams her bedroom door in my face.

I was very pleased at how nice this first picture turned out. It was worth rolling around in the hot sand to get some really cools shots on her level rather than facing down on her the whole time.

Here’s one,more to come.

No news means we’re busy…

Since I’m sitting here at my desk missing my little girl,I feel compelled to write about her. Here is a quick rundown of some new things that she has done in the past week or so:

*Last night she read a book to herself. After I finished Goodnight Moon, she opened the book back up and chattered to us about a couple of different pages for a few minutes. I also hear her talking to herself in her bed before I come get her in the mornings. I leave a book where she can reach it on the pocket of her pack-and-play.

*Saying ee-i-ee-i-o. She does this at random and also at the correct points of “Old MacDonald.”This started spontaneously one day after Baby Gator,so we suspect that they had been singing the song. I’ve also noticed two different O.M. books when I’ve been there picking her up,so she is getting heavy farm exposure:).

*Taking lots of steps!!! She is racking up as many as 10 steps at a time without falling, now, and she will frequently opt for walking over crawling now. Our little one is on the move.

*Pointing. Well, she was pointing before, but now it seems like she is more pointing out of curiosity or wanting something. She points for more food and points out the window or down the sidewalk at people. I try to tell her what things are called.

*Playing music and other imitations. We have a cube that has one side with a xylophone and bell. She likes to play them with the little mallet, now. She will also bang a spoon around in a pan to cook while I am cooking.

*Feeding herself with a spoon. As long as the food clings well to the spoon, like baby cereal, she can manage to get it to her mouth. She dips it in the bowl and then puts it to her mouth, although she often smears it all over her chin, too.

We’ll try to get some photgraphic evidence of some of these milestones soon. I just finished my 4th and final written qualifying exam yesterday. Marcus is studying hard for the bar exam in the afternoons/evenings,so we don’t have a lot of free time right now for uploading pictures. After the 19th,I’ll be doing some catch-up!!
