Our Baby Gator

Aurelia is completing her first week of daycare, today. She has done really well. She cried a little for the first time this morning when I dropped her off. I just had to keep going so that the girls could get her distracted. *sniff*

Yesterday,I felt like I was the one with separation anxiety. I just couldn’t concentrate, and it was all I could do to stay at my desk for a few hours and not run over there to pick her up again. This week has been the first that I didn’t take Wednesday off for “mommy day,”and I am feeling kind of icky about it. I hope that after my exams in the next few weeks that I will be able to resume that habit for the rest of the summer. Perhaps this semester,I’ll go hang out with her between classes or between work and class. Parents often go have lunch with their kiddos at Baby Gator,so it will be something like that.

Yesterday afternoon,we went to Manatee Springs to swim and walk around with my lab group. We had a really good time, even though the water was super cold (~70 degrees all year). The water was very blue and clear and pretty, and Marcus enjoyed it a lot. I get wigged out be swimming with fish,so I didn’t stay in very much, but I did brave it out when there were more people in the water. The springs feel really good in the summer when the air temperature is in the mid-90′s. Last night,it was only about 80,so we were a little chilly. After a picnic of Sonny’s barbecue,we headed back to G’ville. Aurelia had a good time. She splashed in the water and enjoyed being passed around,as always. She zonked out in the car on the way home and didn’t even wake up when I shifted her to her bed.

Pictures of Aurie riding a manatee coming soon…

Swimming and Spaghetti

Marcus and I took Aurelia in the pool at Tucker’s birthday party last Saturday. She had a great time chasing balls that they big kids were playing with and watching them swim and splash around.

Hey,don’t dunk your Daddy!

First time with spaghetti. She really liked it. She was shoving it into her mouth by the fistful. Here is an early photo in the spaghetti-eating process.

…and here she is saucy up to her eyeballs before her bath! She was up to her elbows as well,by the time I got her out of the highchair.:)

At a Pool PartyAt a Pool Party

This is from a birthday pool party for a church friend. Aurelia had fun!

Here she is tanning her legs with the ladies.

This is a long video…as she was quite content to just walk on the playset. She did climb down the slide once;but when I started taping, she stopped.

Houston,We Have Altitude

Aurelia is a super climber.

At first, she merely tried to scale the wall to the window by grabbing the window sill, which is about 3′high. Then, she put her feet on the Boppy pillow which gained her maybe half a foot or more of height. Then, she moved one foot from the Boppy to the coffee table and slowly shifted her weight until she had moved completely to the table.

It’s just a matter of time before she climbs EVERYTHING. And can reach EVERYTHING. Nothing is safe.

Here is the visual evidence so you can see exactly what I’m describing.
