Sarah's Baby Shower

On May 26th, the ladies from the campus church threw me a wonderful tea party-themed baby shower. We had scones, crustless sandwiches, chocolate-covered strawberries, tea punch and carrot cake, to name a few of the adorable and yummy treats. With all of the lovely gifts that we received, Marcus and I are pretty well set for the baby! We were also able to purchase a stroller/carseat combo with credit from a few duplicates (Target was slow with registry stuff) and gift cards. I had such a great time with the ladies from the congregation that came to the party, and I had a chance to talk to some of these women that I don’t always “hang-out” with, too. It really is a special thing to have not only other young mommies and willing babysitters as friends, but also some of the more experienced moms and grandmothers in our church family.

I’ll try to get some still shots uploaded soon. I’m getting a little behind on the blog with all of the unpacking and organizing going on right now!

Another picture of my brother’s little son

Okay, someone requested a pic of my brother’s child with a smile this time. This is the closest I could find.

Soon?

Well, Tuesday was “technically” Sarah’s 36th week being pregnant. Next Tuesday will be 37th and my current understanding is that babies are often born up to 2 weeks early and 2 weeks late and are considered full term after the 37th. I’m told Sarah’s more likely to give birth early with the first child.

Well, Tuesday early morning, we had a little bit of a scare. Sarah woke up with pain all over her belly for 20 minutes before she woke me up; we called the hospital and went. The baby was fine, and the pain was probably a typical late stage pregnancy influenced event.

However, it has made us a bit anxious. It kinda woke us up — this little child could really come out any moment. I kept telling the baby to hurry up during the entire pregnancy…now I’m saying stay in a bit longer, we’re not ready!!!

No picture…maybe tomorrow.

New Home for Baby

If our baby is fortunate, it will never have to see our current apartment. We finally got an official offer for campus housing at Tanglewood, and to save money, we’re taking it. It will be a tad (possibly 150 sq ft, is that a tad or a lot?) smaller than what we currently have, but we suspect the difference in cost will make up for it. Which is especially important since we know we’re going to splurge on the baby.

For instance, we have done the unthinkable…we purchased a camcorder which we are patiently awaiting to arrive in the mail. Since we knew that the babies grandparents just aren’t going to be able to see their grandbaby as often as any of us would like, we figured we’ll at least capture the baby’s life for them. Unfortunately for most of you, that means we’ll probably post the videos on here. Yeah, we’ll be one of THOSE parents. Mwuhaha. MwuhahahahahahahahahA!

I would post a picture of the belly, but since the belly is currently not here, I will take a picture of a baby item that we’ve been given. It’s a very colorful cement truck. It will be interesting to use it to explain what one of the baby’s granddaddies did for a living.

Carvis’ Child

Here’s a picture of my little brother’s kid. This gives you a general idea of what someone with some of my genes could look like.
